Position Snapshot//Job Overview

The Student Ministry Lead supports the mission of Westwind through creating an atmosphere of strong connections for students to Christ, godly leaders, other Christian's and non-believing friends. For them a “job well done” is connecting students through creative and relevant environments, empowering adult volunteers to shepherd the student community, and to create effective strategies to reach lost students in the local community.

What You’ll Lead//Roles and Responsibilities

What You’ll Do//A Week in the Life of the Student Ministry Lead

• Meet with the Connections Pastor

• Meet with students and volunteers for discipleship, leadership, care and encouragement

• Meet with Westwind Ministry Staff

• Administration of Student Ministry budget, database, and calendars

• Ministry planning, preparation and administration for upcoming events

• Pray for the students, families and Student Ministry volunteers

• Partner with Westwind staff to carry out church-wide initiatives and projects as needed

Stewardship and management of Student Ministry budget

• Work with Communications Lead to lead a successful strategy of Student Ministry communications through digital, print and verbal platforms

• Work with Westwind Ministry Assistant to facilitate up-to-date calendars, database information, attendance, etc.

Ministry Leadership

• Create, lead and develop Student Ministry weekly environments

• Create, lead and develop Student Ministry specialized groups and big ticket events

• Be the lead teacher/communicator for Student Ministry environments

• Create, lead and develop volunteer recruitment, training and development for Student Ministry

• Be the voice for students in the Westwind culture

• Oversee interns for Student Ministry

Relational Leadership

• Develop relationships with students, leaders and parents for shepherding, discipleship and care

• Develop relationships with school administration, teachers and coaches to create healthy presence on local school campuses

What We Expect//Qualifications

Education preferred: Bachelor’s degree, seminary training, or equivalent combination of education and experience (typically 1-3+ years)

• 1-3+ years of relevant leadership experience

• 1-3+ years of experience recruiting, motivating, and equipping volunteer leaders and leading and coordinating ministry initiatives

• Strong teaching and communication skills both verbal and written

• Must be highly creative, organized, and administrative

• Knowledge in problem solving and conflict resolution techniques

• Ability to operate in a team environment, often working cross functionally with other teams

• Must exhibit an earnest desire to see lost people come to a relationship with Jesus, continually developing the ability to display this love in action
